Bautzen is a district town in Saxony on a granite slab above the Spree valley and has 42 200 inhabitants.
The main industries in Bautzen are the automotive, tool and machinery, plastics processing. The city is a center of the Sorbs with Domowina Association Lusatian Sorbs, Domowina-Verlag, Sorbian Institute, Sorbian Museum, German-Sorbian Theatre and Sorbian National Ensemble.
Bautzen has a charming town with its Ortenburg and the parts of the city walls, including several towers, such as the Lauenturm, the rich tower etc.
